WHY WE EXIST

Most businesses have been burned by a website project at least once. The site took twice as long as promised, cost more than the quote, and arrived looking modern but doing very little. Six months later nobody on the team can edit it, and the enquiries never really changed.

That happens because a lot of web work is sold as decoration. A design is chosen because it looks current, content is poured in at the end, and nobody ever asks what the site is supposed to achieve. The result is a brochure that happens to be online.

We work the other way round. Every project starts with your customers and the decision they are trying to make, and the design follows from that. It is why our pages tend to be specific rather than clever, why we care about how fast a page loads on a phone, and why we hand over a site your own team can run.

Emergent Pixel is a small team on purpose. You talk to the people who plan, design and build your project, and we take on the number of projects we can do properly rather than the number we could sell.

HOW WE WORK

Six rules we hold to, including the ones that occasionally cost us work.

We start with the business, not the design

Before anything is drawn we want to know who buys from you, what stops them, and what a good month looks like. A website that wins design awards and no customers is a failed project.

You see the work as it happens

Wireframes, then design, then a staging link you can open any time. No four-week silences followed by a grand reveal that is too late to change.

Fixed scope, fixed price

You get a written scope and a price before we start. If the scope changes we tell you what it costs before doing it, not in the final invoice.

We hand over the keys

The code, the accounts, the domain and the documentation are yours. You can take the site to another team tomorrow, and we will help them find their way around.

We say when you do not need us

If a redesign will not fix your problem, or a cheaper option would, we say so on the first call. It costs us a project and saves you a budget.

Launch is not the finish line

Software rots if nobody looks after it. We stay on as a care plan or hand over a site documented well enough for someone else to maintain.
